The annual "Heart of
Virginia" festival claims to be the best small town festival in the
world - and with good reason! There's ample entertainment for any age
group. Highlights include a wide variety of live music, tons of food
and drink, an antique car show, 10K run, arts and crafts, magic shows
and dramatic performances, a grand fireworks display and more.
Farmville's Moton Museum was once a high school where the civil rights
movement of the 1950s was set into motion. The student strike in 1951
arguably marked the beginning of the movement, paving the way for
integrated education nationwide.
The Appomattox, James and Willis rivers offer great boating and
canoeing opportunities to water enthusiasts. Fishing fans will likely
prefer to head onto the Sandy River Reservoir, a 740-acre lake |
