Jayson Shobe in Lewistown, Mont., was inducted into the Montana Auctioneers Association in January 2022.

Jayson Shobe, broker/owner/auctioneer for United Country Real Estate | Shobe Auction and Realty in Lewistown, Mont., was recently inducted into the Montana Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.

The induction took place during the Association’s annual conference in January and came as a surprise to Shobe.

“Our team helps put on the bid caller contest so we were all there, including my wife and children,” said Shobe. “I heard them announcing an award and when they started going through the bio, I realized they were talking about me. It was a pleasant surprise. But I must say, I wouldn’t be here without my supportive family and staff.”

Shobe has been involved with the auction business since he was a child, tagging along to auctions with his father, who was a rancher. He graduated from auction school in 1980 and entered the auction business full time in 1985. He added real estate to his experience in 1990. Since then, he has been an active member in the Montana Auctioneers Association, serving on the board of directors, as vice-president and president.

“From a young age, I’ve always love the energy and excitement of a live auction,” he said. “Now, it’s exciting to see the younger generation getting involved.”
